Volunteer Meeting January 24th - Featuring Local Food Systems

Posted by Amy On Saturday, January 08, 2011
Heifer USA is developing a new focus on supporting and strengthening local food systems. In order to learn more about our local food systems in the Sacramento area, we will have guest speaker at our Jan 24 volunteer meeting.

Paul Cultrera of the Sacramento Food Co-op will be sharing info on the "One Farm at a Time" program (info at www.sacfoodcoop.com) and also on the movement known as "Slow Money," based on the book of the same name by Woody Tasch (info at www.slowmoney.org). Both of these subject concern supporting local food systems and the local farmers they depend on.

About Us

Heifer in Sacramento is a grassroots volunteer group in Northern California, with a common goal of fulfilling Heifer International's basic mission - "To end hunger and save the earth by passing on the gift to others." We are an extension of Heifer International and together we are improving our world and the lives of resource-poor families while building the foundation for a peaceful world in practical, down-to-earth ways.
