It was a wonderful event held in the Sacramento Woodlake neighborhood on Friday, Dec. 19th. Jan Ferris and her daughter Fiona were the main organizers. Jan brought copies of a 2 sided page of Holiday Carols. The weather was dry and unusually mild. We had sent out emails to the entire neighborhood through the Woodlake Neighborhood Association and friends. About 25 neighbors of all ages joined the festivities. There were some great singers so we actually did not sound too bad even without practicing.
JoAnn Peter and I set up an informational Heifer booth at the Woodlake Pool. Our reception by the neighbors was inspiring and really started the holiday for me in a grateful way. We visited about a dozen of the 500 homes in the neighborhood.
The neighborhood kids were amazing in their knowledge of the problems facing those in severe poverty. They loved Feliz Navidad and Rudolf the Red Nosed Reindeer. The kids lasted for about an hour and half.
This was a great event and I would recommend it to folks who live in a place with a neighborhood organization.
