Help Our Community Address Global Warming - October 23 and 24.
This is part of a world-wide event on October 24th to raise awareness about climate change and energy conservation necessary to reduce our carbon footprint. We are attempting to collect and distribute 700 compact florescent light bulbs at booths at 2 Soil Born Farm Stand locations, one on Friday Oct. 23, 12:30 to 2:30 at Center of Praise, 10455 Investment Circle, Rancho Cordova, and the other on Saturday, October 24 8:30 to2:30 at Soil Borns’ American River Farm, 2140 Chase Drive, Rancho Cordova from 8:30 to 2:30. We will provide CFL’s to those who might otherwise not be able to use the energy efficient bulbs.
This event will also include information about Heifer’s work, ideas for conserving energy, children’s art table, CFL costumes, and preparation of materials to be sent to local politicians.Donations are needed to provide more CFL’s.
Also volunteers are needed to man the booths in two-hour shifts. All are encouraged to come, learn, and have fun.
You will also have the opportunity to buy fabulous organic vegetables at the Soil Born Farms Stand. The event is sponsored by a partnership of Heifer International, Soil Born Farms, Sustainability Team of Spiritual Life Center, and 350.org.
